Gerardo Ceballos

Prof. Ceballos is a world leader in the evaluation and design of conservation strategies for endangered species and threatened ecosystems. He has earned this distinction because of his significant contributions to science and global efforts to promote conservation, including, but not limited to innovative and diverse ecological and conservation research; exceptional efforts in applying ecological knowledge to address crucial societal issues; building linkages between human ecology and conservation in order to implement viable ecological sustainability options that account for human needs; and untiring efforts to increase the ecological literacy of decision-makers in government, industry, and the general public. He has pioneering research on the current extinction crises, its causes, and its consequences. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. www.ecolabunam.mx
